Accessibility Features
In the development of the this product, Gale has added a number of accessibility features. We have added these features to complement the use of assistive technologies and to help make the site usable to the broadest possible audience, everyone from those who use screen readers to those viewing this site with a cell phone or personal digital assistant to those with a low-end browser or computer.
This page is divided into 6 sections:
- Section 1 contains a note to users of the JAWS screen reader
- Section 2 lists the named access keys used in this product
- Section 3 explains what may happen if style sheets are turned off
- Section 4 explains how to change the text size on the screen
- Section 5 describes how links and images are coded using the TITLE and ALT attributes

Section 1: Using the JAWS Screen Reader
Please be aware that JAWS is designed to work best with Internet Explorer. If you are using JAWS but have selected to use another browser, JAWS may not be able to take advantage of the accessibility features provided within this application.
Section 2: How to Use Access Keys
Most web browsers support linking to specific pages by typing named access keys:
Windows Users
- Mozilla Firefox 2.x: Press ALT + SHIFT + access key
- Mozilla Firefox 1.x and Netscape: Press ALT + access key
- Microsoft Internet Explorer: Press ALT + access key + ENTER

All pages contain a 'skip to content' link for users who use speech browsers or keyboard navigation who wish to avoid repeated groupings of links.
Section 3: The Use of Cascading Style Sheets
This product uses a cascading style sheets (CSS). Turning off the style sheet will affect the visual presentation and may affect the functionality of the site for some users.
Section 4: How to Change Text Size
The product cascading style sheets (CSS) uses relative font sizes, compatible with the user-specified 'text size' option in visual browsers. If you need to change the text size, we have provided a small, medium, and large size that can be accessed by clicking the three A's in the product banner. You can also use your browser's specific controls to change the font size.
Section 5: The Use of Attributes for Links and Images
Necessary links are assigned 'TITLE' attributes to describe the target in greater detail. Users of assistive technology may wish to set screen reader options to take full advantage of this feature.
Images used in this product include a descriptive 'ALT' attribute. Those images which are purely decorative or used for layout include a null 'ALT' attribute.
Section 6: Linking to Other Web Sites
This collection may provide links to other Gale sites and/or to third-party web sites. Once you navigate outside of this product, these accessibility features may not be implemented.
